How long is a dog’s memory? If you ask me, it is pretty long.
Our son, Josh, moved from our home in Tampa, FL to Dallas about 5 years ago. He took his dog, Princess, with him. Our second dog, Romeo, was almost 4 years old at the time.
Josh has been able to return home about once a year, sometimes less. Romeo is quite a little watch dog. He barks at anyone who comes to our house.
But not Josh. When he comes through the door, Romeo is unbelievably excited to see him. He doesn’t bark at all. He lets out little whimpers of joy at seeing Josh.
So Romeo remembers Josh well. How long is a dog’s memory? Well, it is at least one year. We’ve never taken a video of each occasion, only a few pictures.
Today, I refer to another video of a dog meeting his owner after 8 months of deployment in the military. You’ve probably seen the video since it has gone viral on the internet. But it is certainly worth viewing again.
The video I viewed was on Dogster.com. The article was “Video We Love: Overjoyed Dog Welcomes Home Soldier Dad” by Maria Goodavage.
Here is the video:

How long is a dogs memory? What do you think? Dogs are amazing animals. I feel that they remember for a long time.
